The Godhead We believe in the only true and living God; infinite, eternal, unchangeable, existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Scriptures We believe the Bible, Old and New Testaments, to be the verbally inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.
Jesus Christ We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present life there as High Priest and Advocate, and in “that blessed hope” — His personal, pre-millennial and imminent return.
The Holy Spirit We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Holy Trinity. We believe in the Holy Spirit’s indwelling of all born-again believers; and in the in-filling of the Holy Spirit for the child of God who yields himself through faith in, and obedience to, His will.
Man We believe in the fall of man and the universal depravity of the human race, the guilty and lost condition of all men everywhere outside of Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all mankind, the saints to everlasting joy and bliss, the lost to everlasting conscious torment.
Salvation We believe that the salvation of man consists in the satisfaction of divine justice, the forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God, the imputation of the righteousness of Jesus Christ, the gift of eternal life and every spiritual resource needed for life and godliness. This salvation is based wholly upon the grace of God, was purchased by Christ on the cross, and is received through faith apart from any virtue or work of man. God’s primary instrument for bringing men to faith in Christ is His written Word as applied by the Holy Spirit.
Eternal Salvation We believe that because of the eternal purpose of God toward the objects of His love; because of His freedom to exercise grace toward the merit-less on the ground of the propitiatory blood of Christ; because of the prayer of the Son of God while here on earth; because of the very nature of the divine gift of eternal life; because of the present and unending intercession and advocacy of Christ in heaven; because of the immutability of the unchangeable covenants of God; because of the regenerating, abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of all who are saved; we, and all true believers everywhere, once saved, shall be kept forever. We believe, however, that God is a holy and righteous Father and that, since He cannot overlook the sin of His children, He will, when they persistently sin, chasten them and correct them in infinite love; but having undertaken to save them and keep them forever, apart from all human merit, He who cannot fail will, in the end, present them, every one, faultless before the presence of His glory, and conformed to the image of His Son.
Assurance We believe it is the privilege, not only of some but of all who are born-again by the Spirit through faith in Christ as revealed in the Scriptures to be assured of their salvation from the very day they take Him to be their Savior and that this assurance is not founded upon any fancied discovery of their own worthiness or fitness, but wholly upon the testimony of God in His written Word, existing within His children filial love, gratitude, and obedience.
Sanctification We believe that sanctification which is a setting apart unto God, is threefold; it is already complete for every saved person because his position toward God is the same as Christ’s position. Since the believer is in Christ, he is set apart unto God in the same measure in which Christ is set apart unto God. We believe, likewise, that, while the standing of the Christian is thus perfect in Christ, his present state is as imperfect as his experience in daily life. There is, therefore, a progressive sanctification wherein the Christian is to “grow in grace,” and to “be changed” by the unhindered power of the Spirit. We believe also, that the child of God will yet be fully sanctified in his state as he is now sanctified in his standing in Christ when he shall see his Lord and shall be “like Him”.
The Church We believe that all who have placed their faith in Christ are united together immediately by the Holy Spirit in one spiritual body, the Church, of which Christ is the head. This body began on the day of Pentecost and will be completed at the coming of Christ for His own. In addition to the spiritual union and communion, which extends to the entirety of the body of Christ, the members of this one spiritual body are directed to associate them-selves together in local assemblies.
Ordinances of the Church We believe that the scriptural ordinances of the Church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper; that baptism should be administered to believers only, preferably by immersion as a symbol of their belief in the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and as a testimony to the world of that belief and of their death, burial and resurrection with Him; that the Lord’s Supper should be partaken of by believers only, to show forth His death, till He come.
